Crimson Witch of Flames Guide

One thing that’s super important for character building is character stats. Players want to have better stats on their character to utilize them to their maximum potential and deal maximum damage possible to the enemies. Throughout your gaming journey in Teyvat, you will be investing in different characters and trying to maximize their stats with the best possible weapons from your inventory.

In Genshin Impact, weapons aren’t the only way to increase a character’s damage potential. It’s just the other half of the coin, and it gets completed when you combine artifacts with them. If you are a new player, you must be wondering what these artifacts are?

In simple terms, they are items you can equip on your characters to boost their stats and make them perform better. Some artifacts will affect your character’s ATK, whereas others will affect their health. It depends on how you want to build a character and which role you want them to fill in.

Here, I’ll be going over one such artifact named Crimson Witch of Flames and discussing it in brief detail where you can find it, on which character you can use it on or even go over general questions you may have. I’ve got you covered!

Since day one, I’ve been playing Genshin Impact and having reached Adventure Rank 59, and I can say you will surely learn something new here. So, before further ado, let’s jump to know what this artifact is and its intricate details!

Crimson Witch of Flames: Introduction

Crimson Witch of flames can be said the go-to set for a pyro character when it comes to gameplay. It helps a lot in amplifying reactions like vaporizing and melting, which can do 1.5x or even 2x the damage.

You can say that Crimson witch of flames set on pyro characters is one of the most broken artifact sets in Genshin Impact. This artifact set brings so much utility to the table regarding pyro characters that ignoring it would be a grave mistake.

Generally, most Genshin impact players prefer to have at least one good pyro DPS to counter tanky enemies in the spiral abyss. That helps them deal with quite an amount of damage in a short period of time, all thanks to amplifying reactions.

I’ve spent quite a time farming for good artifact pieces for my pyro characters like Klee, Xiangling and Diluc. Indeed, I can switch artifacts on Xiangling depending on time to time, but, in the end, it all depends on the team composition.

Crimson Witch of Flames: Domain Location

Crimson Witch of Flames and Lavawalker sets can be farmed in the Hidden palace of Zhou, which is located in Wuwang Hill, Liyue. Unlike other domains like Viridescent Venerer’s, this domain is locked behind a puzzle.

You cannot access it from the get-go. You need to unlock the puzzle to make the domain door arise from the ground and then access it with your characters.

Let’s go over a walkthrough of how you can unlock this domain:

  1. You have to light up four torches to unlock the Geo Totem; before that, clear out the area of monsters nearby to complete the puzzle smoothly.
  2. The first torch is near the mechanism itself, and you can use any pyro character to light it up. If you’re an early game player, I recommend you have Amber in your party to use her charged attack to apply pyro on the torch.
  3. The second torch is near a stone post, above the domain location on a cliff where you will find Mitachurls and a group of hilichurls to fight. They are not formidable enemies, and you can efficiently deal with them. If you want to know more about them, you can head over to the Hilichurl guide and Mitachurl guide. There’s also a seelie that you can interact with, and it will start its journey to the destination.
  4. The third torch is also in the direction of the Second torch; all you have to do is climb the cliff adjacent to the second torch and go a bit further. Remember that, to spot the torches, you can see the glowing pedestal in the mechanism and figure out which direction’s torch is the missing one. This helped me figure out torch puzzles when no guides or walkthroughs were available when new content launches. After lighting up this torch, an abyss made will spawn that you will have to defeat. You can choose to leave him as he is, but he will chase you to a certain distance. So, I’ll recommend you to defeat him and remove the annoyance.
  5. The fourth and the last torch is inside an anemo wind barrier that you can jump into after gliding from a higher elevation. You will notice that the seelie you were following earlier is also inside that barrier, so you can finally put that seelie to rest at its destination.
  6. As soon as you light up the last remaining torch, the totem will unlock, and you can activate the totem using the Geo element on it. Totems often have an elemental icon on them that you can see to figure out the element you have to apply to them. The moment you use the Geo element on the totem, a short cutscene will trigger, showing the domain’s top getting shattered and the door rising from the ground.
  7. After that, you can interact with the domain to unlock it as a teleport point or initiate its challenges to farm artifact sets for your characters.

I love to solve puzzles, and it gives me joy to finally get the reward after putting effort into something. This domain was one of the earliest domains I’ve completed, and to this day, it feels fresh in my memory. Genshin Impact has a lot of puzzles and challenges in the overworld that players can solve to unlock specific domains or obtain precious items.

This domain is also good to reach Oceanid’s location if you don’t want to teleport and swim to that boss location. Just jump off the cliff, glide a bit, plunge and voila! You will see yourself standing on a platform where you will fight Oceanid. Suppose you want to know more about Oceanid mechanics and how to fight it.

In that case, I’ll recommend you to follow Oceanid Guide, written by another fantastic author on the site.

You can complete these challenges quickly if you use the characters with recommended elements. I’ve also added a few elements that I found suited this domain. Generally, the recommended element is to use Cryo in this domain.

Still, speaking from personal experience, Hydro works quite flawlessly in some challenges.

If you are facing lightweight enemies, then characters like Venti, Sucrose, or Kazuha can help you apply crowd control to them and deal damage at a single point after grouping up. Another way is to use characters dealing area-wide damage like Childe or Ganyu. That’s also a good option if you want to deal damage to the enemies in the domain.

But keep in mind to use characters that sync well with the Leyline disorder. Before starting up the challenge, it’s better to skim over leyline disorder to make an informative decision about team composition. Some leyline disorders may benefit you, whereas others can be fatal.

Crimson Witch of Flames: Artifact Details

  • Rarity: 4-star / 5-star
  • 2-piece set: Increases pyro damage by 15%
  • 4-piece set: Increases overloaded and burning damage by 40%, increases vaporize and melt damage by 15%. Using elemental skill increases the 2-piece set bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10 seconds. A maximum of 3 stacks can be gained.

Crimson Witch of flames artifacts is quite impressive when boosting the pyro damage of a character. The 2-piece set offers a fixed amount of pyro elemental damage bonus increase. On top of that, you get a boost in the 2-piece effect after using an elemental skill.

This set will shine in both conditions, whether you are using transformative reactions or amplifying reactions to deal damage. An increase in overload, burning, melt and vaporize damaged in 4-piece effect is a complete package of damage bonanza for pyro characters.

Combine this with the Viridescent Venerer set’s effect, and you have a damage machine team composition. Viridescent Venerer can help you to shred pyro resistance from enemies, boosting your character’s pyro damage capabilities. Suppose you want to know more about Viridescent venerer. In that case, I recommend you go over its comprehensive guide on our site.

Let’s go over different artifact pieces in detail and know more about them.

Flower of Life – Witch’s Flower of Blaze

Witch's Flower of Blaze

A flower touched by the Witch who once dreamt of burning away all the demons in the world. The anonymous flames affectionately caress the hands of those who touch it.

  • Rarity: 4-star / 5-star

The flower only features flat HP as the primary stat that you can upgrade to make your character a bit tanky. Having additional HP on the characters can make them absorb a few enemy hits or even critical blows, saving them from instant death.

Enemies like Maguu kenki can one-shot characters in close range, and if you have some other health stacked up, you can expect a chance to survive.

So, having a bit of additional health on your character is always good and best if you can manage that from your artifact’s substat rolls. This will enable you to opt for more offensive stats and not worry about the character’s health in the longer run.

The plume of Death – Witch’s Ever-Burning Plume

Witch's Ever-Burning Plume

A bird feather touched by the Witch who once dreamt of burning away all the demons in the world. Its eternal flame burns hot.

  • Rarity : 4-star / 5-star

As the name suggests, the plume of deaths features a single offensive stat: flat attack. This flat attack gets added to your characters’ base attack and boosts overall damage. When it comes to pyro characters, having plenty of attacks on them can result in good vaporize or melt damage. Thus, making them one of the best damage dealers in the game.

Characters like Bennett can benefit from a flat attack because, in his burst, he can buff active characters’ atk, which scales off his base attack. Although Noblesse oblige is the recommended set on him, if you have an excellent offset piece from Crimson witch of flames, go for it.

Sands of Eon – Witch’s End Time

Witch's End Time

  • Rarity: 4-star / 5-star

A timepiece is worn by the Witch who dreamt of burning away all the demons in the world. The years the Witch dedicated to the flames flow within.

Sands of Eon features different main stats that players can equip depending on their character needs. Sands of Eon is what I call a stepping stone for building your character because from here on, and you start to equip game-changing stats on your characters. These stats will influence how you perform team rotations and which team compositions you will have to synergize your characters in.

You can expect to get one of the following main stats from the RNG:

  1. HP % – Thoma
  2. DEF % – Xinyan
  3. ATK % – Diluc, Klee, Yanfei , Yoimiya
  4. Energy Recharge % – Thoma, Xiangling, Bennett
  5. Elemental Mastery – Hu Tao, Diluc,

Luckily, pyro characters are so versatile that you can use each of these stats on a pyro character and go into battle with them. I’ve listed the character name alongside stats to give you an overview.

If you want to know more about them, I recommend you head over to their respective brief guides. Depending on the team composition and requirements, you can change the main stats on Sands of Eon and opt for better substats.

Broadly, you will classify the stats into one of three roles, Offense, Defense and Support. So, make sure to fill at least two of these roles in your team composition to experience well-built gameplay.

Goblet of Eonothem – Witch’s Heart Flames

Witch's Heart Flames

  • Rarity: 4-star / 5-star

A flame-spitting urn left behind by the Crimson Witch of Flames, who once dreamt of burning away all the demons in the world. The fire in the urn burns eternally, as did its former master.

Like Sands of Eon, Goblet of Eonothem gives main stats based on RNG. However, the main difference here is the availability of damage bonuses. On top of stats provided by Sands of Eon, Goblet can give additional elemental or physical damage bonuses that you can equip on a character. Damage bonuses are essential to main damage dealers because they help pump out particular elemental damage more potently and clear out enemy HP bars smoothly.

Let’s go over the stats you can expect from the Goblet of Eonothem, which is based on RNG:

  1. HP %
  2. DEF %
  3. ATK %
  4. Physical DMG Bonus %
  5. Elemental Mastery
  6. Pyro DMG bonus %
  7. Cryo DMG bonus %
  8. Geo DMG bonus %
  9. Electro DMG bonus %
  10. Anemo DMG bonus %
  11. Hydro DMG bonus %

Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll see a Dendro DMG bonus. Coming back, you can equip any of these possible stats on a character depending on your requirements and try to benefit from a boost in your character stats.

I don’t think you will be using any damage bonus besides pyro on pyro characters. You can keep the other elemental or physical damage bonuses to be used as an offset on other characters’ artifact sets.

Generally, it’s recommended to use an elemental damage bonus on main damage dealers, so you may find yourself using Pyro damage bonus on most pyro characters like Diluc, Klee, Yanfei, Hu Tao, Xiangling and Yoimiya. Depending on the situation, you can equip different stats on characters; however, you should stick to the general team recommendations to avoid wasting time on much experimentation.

I recommend you experiment a bit, but not too much, because eventually, that will consume your essential game time to clear the content. Keep a slow pace and enjoy the content than rushing it.

Circlet of Logos – Witch’s Scorching Hat

Witch's Scorching Hat

  • Rarity : 4-star/ 5-star

A hat was once worn by the Witch who dreamt of burning away all of the demons in the world. The large brim blocked her sight.

Circlet of Logos will offer you the exact stats; however, now you have options to add stats on your characters that can improve CRIT ratios.

Players can expect the following stats from Circlet of Logos that drop based on the RNG:

  1. HP %
  2. DEF %
  3. ATK %
  4. Elemental Mastery
  5. CRIT Rate %
  6. CRIT DMG %
  7. Healing Bonus %

Most of the time, you will be equipping CRIT ratio stats on Circlets because of their insane value in combat. When it comes to main damage dealers, CRIT ratios become essential to have on them to amplify their overall damage. Most of my pyro characters have either CRIT rate or CRIT damage on them so that I can clear out mobs faster in the spiral abyss.

I’d like to specify one particular stat that you will get from Circlet, a Healing bonus that you can use on Bennett. I don’t think you need to use the Healing bonus on Bennett because he already has heals scale off HP %.

Healing ticks per second are relatively faster than other healers. You are better off using HP % if you want him purely heal-centred, but I don’t think you’ll ever need to consider that option if you have better HP % substat rolls. Ultimately, it depends on how you approach building a character and how that character synergizes in your team composition.

Artifacts Summary

Keeping aside plume and flower, the rest of the pieces of the artifact will offer different stats that you can equip on your characters, depending on your needs. Suppose you plan to build a specific character.

In that case, I recommend you to follow character guides to know better about them and find their best team compositions. In rare situations, where you have to build a particular character in a specific role, like building a shield bot, Thoma, you can go with HP % on a Sands, Circlet and Goblet.

That can work in the overworld where you don’t have to worry much about optimal team compositions. Still, you may run into some energy recharge problems in the spiral abyss if you are using a burst team composition.

It’s highly speculative how the character will perform in numero-uno team composition because of the extensive combination of team compositions available in the game.

My tip would be to stick to the generally recommended artifact set for a character and use their best weapon option available in your inventory. This will help you avoid running into niche character roles and adapt to a general playstyle.

Crimson Witch of Flames: Characters

Crimson Witch of flames artifact set is preferred on Pyro character because of its potential to boost pyro damage and enhance amplifying reactions or transformative reactions’ damage.

Players can farm this set in the early game and still benefit from excellent passives to enjoy the damage boost. Thus making this set one of the best sets for pyro characters.

You can use this set on all pyro characters in Genshin Impact. As of writing this guide, Genshin Impact 2.5 features the following Pyro characters:

  1. Amber
  2. Bennett
  3. Thoma
  4. Xiangling
  5. Diluc
  6. Yoimiya
  7. Xinyan
  8. Klee
  9. Yanfei
  10. Hu Tao

Most Pyro characters have offensive abilities and specialize in filling primary damage-dealing roles. Each of these characters has its abilities, roles and stats that you can build them on. Suppose you want to make a character’s primary damage dealer.

Offensive stats like Elemental Mastery, ATK% on sands would be highly efficient with CRIT ratios on Circlets. Though, there are some characters like Bennett who can fill in more niche roles like team support and healer at the same time. You will need to equip a different artifact, Noblesse Oblige, on him to make the best out of him.

Ultimately, it depends on which role you want your character to fill in and what their kit offers. Also, sometimes your artifact options may expand with extra constellations. Like when you see Bennett C6 unlocking, you only want to have him as the primary pyro damage dealer.

That can offer you an experimental team and fun character to play with, but that also can limit your team compositions. Some constellations like Bennett’s C6 may have more cons than pros, depending on the characters you have in your roster. You certainly don’t want to run Eula with Bennett C6.

In my opinion, you should research the characters you have and try to find a better team composition that can help you to clear out end-game content. If you want to know about characters, I recommend you check out our character guides to know your favourite character’s best weapon and optimal team compositions.

FAQs

We are almost done; time to go through some common questions that you may have after reading this Crimson Witch of Flames guide.

Question: Is this set suitable for other characters?

Answer: I don’t think the Crimson Witch of flames artifact set has many other options besides pyro characters because it’s more niche for pyro characters. Most of the time, you will see this set as the best slot set for all pyro characters in the game. Though, it’s possible to use other artifact sets like the emblem of severed fate on pyro characters like xiangling to compensate for lack of energy recharge. But that set is more niche in team composition and sometimes requires an Energy recharge weapon.

The main selling point for this artifact set is its potential to boost reaction damage and provide pyro damage bonus utility to the character. Suppose you have a pyro damage dealer and hydro support like Xingqiu. In that case, you can trigger massive vaporize reactions to take the most benefit from boosted reaction damage. I use Hu tao with Xingqiu to melt enemy HP bars fast and keep an anemo character to shred elemental resistance for better damage. In the end, it’s all about doing good damage to characters and clearing the content without hassle.

Question: Should I feed 5-star pieces to other artifact pieces for EXP?

Answer: I won’t recommend you to feed the artifact pieces as EXP fodder because sometimes it may take you weeks or even months to farm for pieces with specific stats. Artifact farming is quite RNG-based, and players need to use resin to farm artifacts, which fills over time daily.

So, make sure to keep an eye on your resin usage during the period of artifact farming and try to avoid using too much resin for artifacts. Trust me when I say this because I’ve spent over 3000 resin on the Viridescent domain, and to this day, I don’t have good pieces on my anemo characters. Well, it’s all luck, I’ll say, when it comes to RNG.

So, my recommendation is to get the required stats on your characters and avoid over-farming the materials. This will save your resin and time spent on the game, and you can use left-out resin to invest in other characters.

Question: How challenging is the puzzle of this domain when compared to other puzzles in the game?

Answer: I’ll say it’s pretty easy compared to other puzzles game has to offer. There are some domains where you have to complete their respective puzzles in phases and require quite a bit of time to complete. Sure, you can complete them in a breeze if you have a walkthrough to refer to or see a tutorial on youtube video. Coming to Crimson witch of flames’ domain, this domain is pretty simple to unlock, and all you have to do is light up torches. Pyro torches are generally located in different directions. After lighting them up, you can apply the Geo element on the totem to unlock the domain.

Even if we talk about nearby enemies, they are not tough to deal with because they are general mobs you see in the overworld. Mitachurls, hilichurls and Cicin mages are the common enemies you will encounter throughout your journey. By the time you reach this domain, you will already have good invested characters to fight them. So, I’ll recommend you invest in your characters and take things slow to clear the content.

Closing Remarks

Crimson Witch of flames is the go-to set for Pyro characters because of its potential to boost elemental reactions damage with pyro. Its ability to boost both transformative and amplifying reaction damage is impressive. No other artifact sets offer this kind of utility potential.

Although this set brings massive pyro damage boost and reaction damage potential, you should avoid spending too much time farming. Genshin impact requires players to spend resin to farm for different in-game items, boss materials and EXP books. This makes resin one of the most critical aspects of the game, and players have to use it efficiently to progress.

Spending too much resin on an artifact domain in the hope of getting the perfect stats is ordinary mistake players make and end up wasting a lot of time on it. So, I’ll recommend you work with whatever artifacts you have and focus on investing into your character’s ascension and talent ascensions. After that, you can spend the remaining resin to farm for good artifacts and level them up in the longer run.

That was all from my end about Crimson witch of flames, and I hope you got to know better things about them. I recommend you go through different character guides and know more about them to choose optimal team compositions.
