Genshin Impact Domains of Forgery Guide

The Domains of Forgery are a vital component of the gameplay in Genshin Impact. Every weapon in every game requires leveling up or refining in order to get the best offensive or defensive output.

Genshin Impact is not a stranger to this concept, and as a matter of fact, they have introduced a domain system where players can quickly obtain the materials needed to upgrade their weapons. Higher rewards can be received at more significant difficulties, but players must be smart about how they spend their Resin.

Players need to reach Adventure Rank 16 to unlock Domains of Forgery, the first domain that will be unlocked is in Mondstadt, Cecelia Garden. I would recommend waiting until Adventure Rank 40 and then attempting to do the domains of forgery at their highest level.

This is because the rewards received at the highest are much more worthwhile, although more realistically, players would need a few materials to upgrade their weapons in the early stages of the game.

The Genshin Impact Domains of Forgery  have four levels of difficulty, and each level is tied to a recommended Adventure Rank, and they are;

  • Level I – Recommended Adventure Rank 16
  • Level II – Recommended Adventure Rank 21
  • Level III – Recommended Adventure Rank 30
  • Level IV – Recommended Adventure Rank 40

Domains of Forgery

Cecelia Garden – Mondstadt

This domain contains the necessary ascension materials for all weapons related to Mondstadt. Players can access this domain via the nearest waypoint located north of Wolvendom. Just outside the domain, there are a few Hilichurls and a slime; players will have absolutely no issues since they are pretty easy to deal with.

This domain is filled with Hydro-related monsters at each level of difficulty. Additionally, the domain exacts a status effect on players called “Slowing Water.”

This effect extends the cooldowns of each character’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst and will remain applied to the character(s) until the effect is removed via an elemental reaction.

This domain also comes with an additional handicap; after killing a monster, players must kill another monster within a specific time limit (the time limit varies in each level).

With players having a hard time reloading their Elemental Skills and Elemental Bursts, they would have to work overtime to deal damage consistently or use characters that have elemental infusions. I would highly recommend taking characters that have very low cooldowns and characters that can use elemental infusions with their normal attacks.

One such character would be Ayaka; I feel that she is perfect for this domain due to the Cryo infusion that she is able to do after using her sprint, coupled with her ability to constantly deal Cryo damage will Freeze all of the enemies’.

In order to unlock this domain, players need to find all of the Seelies in the nearby area and guide them to their respective Seelie courts. The Seelies can be found in the following areas;

  1. The Seelie is surrounded by a small camp of Hilichurls on the left side of the Domain.
  2. The Seelie is trapped under a pile of breakable rocks; after players destroy the rocks, the Seelie will be free.
  3. The Seelie is trapped behind an Anemo wall on the right side of the domain, and players need to use the Anemo element to activate the totem, which will then disable the Anemo wall.
  4. The Seelie is trapped under a pile of stones near the Seelie courts.

Once all four Seelies have returned to their respective Seelie courts, the Anemo totem in front of the domain will become interactive. Players need to hit the totem with an Anemo attack to activate it, thus unlocking the Cecelia Garden Domain of Forgery.

This is not a challenging puzzle, the only issue ould be that the Hilichurls in the area might interfere while unlocking the puzzles unless they are dealt with beforehand.

Hidden Palace of Lianshan Formula – Liyue

This domain is essential for many reasons, mainly, The Prototype weapon series; this is a starter kit of sorts for most players. This is because some of the weapons from the Prototype series will be used extensively during the early stages of the game and will continue to be important throughout.

Farming this domain is relatively easy since most of the enemies are Electro monsters; players can utilize Pyro and Cryo characters to deal with this domain swiftly.

Once again, I would highly recommend using a character like Ayaka because not only is her damage output significant, but she can also conduct elemental reactions such as Superconduct or Melt.

This domain has a status effect called “Engulfing Storm,” this effect drains the character’s energy, causing issues whenever a vital Elemental Burst is needed for purposes such as healing. However, players can easily overcome this hurdle by using characters with a high Energy Recharge, a battery character, or Raiden Shogun.

Additionally, there will be random bolts of lightning that will strike the on-field character, dealing AoE Electro damage. These issues can be overcome relatively quickly because the Engulfing Storm effect can be removed quite easily via elemental reactions, and the lightning requires attention and quick reflexes to dodge them.

This domain will be unlocked naturally after players interact with it, and it is not locked behind any puzzle, mechanism, or timed challenges. The only potential issue would be that players would have characters with lower levels in a high-danger zone where they can be killed easily.

Inazuma

This domain is one that I rarely visit, if I am being honest. This is because I was able to get most of the Inazuma weapon ascension material via the events; however, this does not apply to every player. This domain is quite simple, and if players can use Freeze teams, then their lives would become much more simple.

Once again, the character that I recommend for this would be Ayaka, and the other character would be Xingqui. Using these characters is not an absolute necessity, but I feel that their Freeze synergy would be good enough to deal with this domain with relative ease.

Alternatively, players can bring their Geo team comps to take advantage of the increased shield strength and the shockwaves produced by Crystallize reactions. This would mean that ideally, players can use an entire Geo team comp or try a two Geo (the Geo resonance will go a long way) and two other element team comp.

Since Crystallize is an inert reaction that is relatively “unreactive,” unlike almost all other reactions in Genshin Impact, players will have to use high damage dealing team comps to deal a significant amount of damage.

This domain will be unlocked naturally after players interact with it, and it is not locked behind any puzzle, mechanism, or timed challenges. There is a small Electro puzzle outside this domain; however, this puzzle is unrelated to the domain, and players can solve it to receive a chest.

Sumeru

In my opinion, this domain might be the most straightforward weapon ascension material domain. Players can use any Dendro-Electro team comp to walk through this domain easily. Suppose players have characters such as Nahida and Raiden Shogun.

In that case, they will apply their respective elements very efficiently, removing any issues hindering players from obtaining the buffs they need. Additionally, players can use the Dendro Traveler and Fishcl as another option, and this is a more approachable option because most players must have at least one constellation for Fischl.

Since the monsters in this domain are from the Sumeru region, players can expect to have a better damage output when using Dendro-based reactions.

However, I would say that players still need to focus a high volume of damage on the Winged Dendroshroom or Grounded Hydroshroom since they appear to be a little tankier than the other monsters in the domain.

Since this domain is the second domain with no significant handicap, players can hopefully expect the upcoming domains to have the same format.

This domain will be unlocked naturally after players interact with it, and it is not locked behind any puzzle, mechanism, or timed challenges. This domain is quite easy to unlock: players barely have to deal with any significant threats, although the walk to the domain from the nearest waypoint is a little tedious.

Genshin Impact Domains of Forgery: FAQs

Question: Which Domain of Forgery is the most Difficult?

Answer: In my experience, the Cecilia Garden domain in Mondstadt is the most difficult. This domain is quite annoying; this is due to the “Slowing Water” effect and the time limits between kills.

Question: Can Players do Domains of Forgery on Co-op?

Answer: Yes, players can do Domains of Forgery on co-op.

Question: Why do Players have to Visit Domains of Forgery?

Answer: Players must visit and defeat Domains of Forgery to collect ascension material for their weapons. However, each day, each domain of forgery will only host one of three respective regional ascension materials.

Conclusion

Since the core value of Genshin Impact lies in its Gacha nature, it does make sense to have other aspects of the game built around RNG-based mechanics. The artifact domains, weapon ascension material domains, and talent book domains are all centered around repeated trials and RNG.

This brings a new level of difficulty when it comes to gathering resources since Resin (currency used to claim rewards) is a limited resource as well, which makes players approach these domains with a resource-gathering game plan.

I would recommend making a list of weapons that need immediate upgrading based on the team comps and characters used and then prioritizing these weapons after building the characters to a sufficient level (in comparison to the player’s world level).
