Genshin Impact Baizhu Guide

Genshin Impact Baizhu Guide

Since the beginning of our adventure in Genshin Impact, healers play a crucial role in our team compositions. Completing the game’s content is nearly impossible without robust healers on your team.

To some extent, you can get by using reliable shielders like Zhongli, Noelle, and Thoma. However, as the game progresses, you will come across foes that can apply corrosion to your characters, depleting their health over time.

I’ve been a victim of corrosion on Tsurumi Island. I ran like a headless chicken when Riftwolves ambushed me in the fog. I eventually died of excessive corrosion from their claws. Some enemies don’t have the word “mercy” in their dictionary.

To counter such attacks, statuses, and harmful environmental hazards that can deplete your characters’ health over time, you need to have solid healers. With so many healers available in the game, it may be a confusing time to pick a reliable one.

Some provide cleansing effects, while others buff your characters’ attack. However, there’s a healer who’s the complete package when it comes to burst healing, resistance to interruption, and multiple shields that can protect your characters.

None other than Baizhu, Liyue’s prominent doctor, is finally available for players in the game. Being a Dendro healer, Baizhu can provide your team with many utilities and help them complete the most challenging floors of the Spiral Abyss.

In this Genshin Impact Baizhu Guide, I will provide you with amazing team compositions with Baizhu to clear the abyss and recommend the best artifacts and weapons you can equip him with. Without further ado, let’s visit Bubu Pharmacy to meet Qiqi and Dr. Baizhu.

A Man with Snake-Like Eyes

We met Baizhu in Bubu Pharmacy while searching for the Everlasting incense. As usual, our Paimon made a silly joke about his attire, and suddenly, Changsheng, the white snake around Baizhu’s neck, gave her a befitting reply. I have never seen Paimon so stunned.

Changsheng really did a number on Paimon by calling her a mascot. We did find the boss of Bubu Pharmacy, but the quoted price of 3 million for the Everlasting incense was mind-boggling.

I’m glad that Childe helped us seal the deal because neither the Traveler nor Zhongli had any Mora on them. After settling the deal for the Everlasting incense during the Guizhong archon quest, we meet Baizhu on several more occasions throughout the story.

genshin impact baizhu
Changsheng, Baizhu’s companion

He’s a well-reputed doctor who treats his patients with utmost care and sometimes tends to them for free. There hasn’t been any single instance when a patient has been denied the audience of Dr. Baizhu unless he’s sick at home. There aren’t many illnesses that Baizhu cannot treat with his wide range of medicines.

On top of that, Baizhu maintains a vast network of influential connections in the industry to procure rare ingredients. He does good work for the people, but Bubu Pharmacy’s insane prices for exquisite items can be shocking to ordinary folks.

After all, Bubu Pharmacy is a business, and a business needs to make profits to survive in the long run.

Luxury item prices end up going in the millions, but whoever pays for those items is assured quality by Dr. Baizhu himself. His relationship with Changsheng is also discussed among the common folk.

People aware of medicinal practices and procedures deduce his intentions of making an Elixir of immortality, while others don’t care about anything besides getting a cure for their ailment. As long as Dr. Baizhu heals them, they aren’t bothered by his ambitions at all.

Ascension and Talent Materials

I highly recommend leveling up Baizhu to character level 90 to maximize his base health. His ascension stat, HP, synergizes quite well with his abilities and scales his overall healing potential.

To ascend Baizhu to the maximum level, you need to farm the following materials from the overworld:

  • Evergloom Ring x 46
  • Fungal Spores x 18
  • Luminescent Pollen x 30
  • Crystalline Cyst Dust x 36
  • Violetgrass x 168
  • Nagadus Emerald Sliver x 1
  • Nagadus Emerald Fragment x 9
  • Nagadus Emerald Chunk x 9
  • Nagadus Emerald Gemstone x 6
  • Mora x 420,000

As for the talent materials, you need the materials mentioned below to maximize a single talent:

  • Fungal Spores x 6
  • Luminescent Pollen x 22
  • Crystalline Cyst Dust x 31
  • Teachings of Gold x 3
  • Guide to Gold x 21
  • Philosophies of Gold x 38
  • Mora x 1,652,500
  • Worldspan Fern x 6
  • Crown of Insight x 1

There’s no use in leveling up Baizhu’s normal attack talent unless you want to play him as an on-field Dendro damage dealer.

That, again, would be a bad idea because you won’t benefit from his HP scaling Elemental skill and burst. You should prioritize his Elemental burst and skill to maximize heals and buffs.

Baizhu’s Combat Talents

Normal Attack: The Classics of Acupuncture

baizhu's combat talents
Skill attributes: Normal talent

Normal attack: Baizhu performs up to four strikes that deal Dendro damage to enemies.

Charged attack: After consuming a specific amount of Stamina, Baizhu performs a charged attack to deal area-of-effect Dendro damage to the enemies in front of him.

Plunging attack: Baizhu plunges from mid-air to deal an area-of-effet Dendro damage to the enemies on the ground

It depends on whether you want to play Baizhu as a Dendro damage dealer or not. For the most part, you can leave this talent as it is. You don’t need to invest in this talent because most of Baizhu’s kit relies on his Elemental skill and burst.

Elemental Skill: Universal Diagnosis

baizhu's elemental skill - universal diagnosis
Skill attributes: Elemental skill

Baizhu’s Gossamer Sprite travels through enemies to deal Dendro damage. Once it has performed three attacks, it returns to Baizhu to heal the party members based on Baizhu’s maximum health. The Sprite also returns if there are no enemies nearby.

What a lovely skill. Usually, healers can heal active characters or entire parties with their Elemental bursts; however, Baizhu’s Elemental skill is an Elemental burst of its own.

I mean, in a way, it is. You get a team-wide healing from the Elemental skill, which is only available to some healers in their Elemental bursts. The Elemental skill has beautiful animation and can travel through multiple enemies.

If there’s one enemy, the Sprite will bounce off that enemy three times. Once the Sprite finishes its attack, it returns to heal the entire party. To me, this is the main selling point, rapid team heals. The healing is decent, with a 10-second cooldown on the Elemental skill.

Elemental Burst: Holistic Revivification

baizhu's elemental burst - holistic revivification
Skill attributes: Elemental burst

Baizhu creates Seamless Shields that can absorb incoming Dendro damage with 250 % effectiveness. In the Pulsing Clarity state, Baizhu generates a new Seamless shield with a cooldown of 2.5 seconds.

The Seamless shield heals your on-field character based on Baizhu’s maximum health and deals Dendro damage to nearby enemies with Spiritveins under the following conditions:

  • When a new Seamless shield generates on a character already under the protection of a Seamless shield
  • When the Seamless shield is shattered, or the duration expires

Baizhu’s shields have disappointed me. They’re utterly weak compared to some of the solid shielders/healers in the game, like Diona, Zhongli, Layla, Thoma, and Noelle. However, there’s a silver lining to his Elemental burst.

The shields have a cooldown of 2.5 seconds, where they regenerate, heal your character, and provide resistance to interruption.

This means you won’t get staggered by enemies, and even if the shield is broken by an attack, the stagger will be nullified. There have been times when I got caught in an enemy’s attack chain and lost the entire chamber.

Additionally, your Spiritveins damage nearby enemies, providing some off-field Dendro application for your active character. However, with an 80 burst cost, you have to manage your Energy recharge. Otherwise, you won’t be able to cast his burst more often on the battlefield.

Ascension Passive: Five Fortunes Forever

Depending on your active character’s health, Baizhu gets the following effects:

  • Baizhu gets a 20 % healing bonus if the active character’s health is less than 50 %
  • When the active character’s health is more than 50 %, Baizhu gets a 25 % Dendro damage bonus.

Most players won’t be building Baizhu as the main Dendro damage dealer, so a 25 % Dendro damage bonus won’t be impactful. However, an extra healing bonus is always welcomed when you are running against the clock, and enemies are shooting at you from all directions.

Ascension Passive: All Things Are of the Earth

All the party members healed by Baizhu’s Seamless shields get the Year of Verdant Favor effect that increases the Burning, Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction damage by 2 % for each 1,000 HP Baizhu possesses that doesn’t exceed the 50,000 HP limit.

Similarly, Aggravate and Spread reaction damage is increased by 0.8 %. The effect lasts for 6 seconds.

What a marvelous passive! Mindblowing. After unlocking this Ascension passive, Baizhu becomes a complete package with healing, shielding, and buffing capabilities.

You can get up to a 100 % reaction damage bonus for Burgeon, Burning, Bloom, and Hyperbloom reactions and a 40 % reaction damage bonus for Spread and Aggravate.

This makes Baizhu a perfect fit for Dendro team compositions that require Dendro reactions. Even if your characters are healed, the passive will activate and buff your characters’ Dendro reactions’ damage.

Utility Passive: Herbal Nourishment

With Baizhu in your party, interacting with specific harvestable items in the overworld will heal your active character for 2.5 % of Baizhu’s maximum health.

Constellations

baizhu's constellations
Baizhu’s constellation: Lagenaria

C1: Attentive Observation

You get another charge on Baizhu’s Elemental skill, Universal Diagnosis.

The constellation is a modest addition to his Elemental skill. With two charges of the Elemental skill, you can generate more Energy particles and heal your characters twice. Also, you can trigger the Deepwood memories artifact set’s 4-piece set bonus on more enemies.

C2: Incisive Discernment

With a cooldown of 5 seconds, when your active character comes in contact with a nearby enemy, Baizhu’s Gossamer Sprite: Splice will be unleashed.

Gossamer Sprite: Splice deals 250 % of Baizhu’s attack as Dendro damage by initiating an attack before returning and heals for 20 % of his Elemental Skill, Universel Diagnosis’s Sprite’s normal healing. The damage is considered Elemental skill damage.

Indeed a good constellation that can heal your on-field character and provide them with an off-field Dendro application. You are getting a Dendro application every 5 seconds that can be used in Dendro-reaction-related teams like Quicken, Bloom, and their sub-reactions.

On top of that, it’s not mandatory for your characters to deal damage. It’s clear from the constellation’s description that your character has to come in contact with them to satisfy the condition.

Definitely, if they are dealing damage, the condition is satisfied. However, the constellation will hold up even if you use Alternate Sprints to tag those enemies.

C3: All Aspects Stabilized

A default constellation that increases the level of Baizhu’s Elemental burst, Holistic Revivification, by three with an upper limit of fifteen levels. You will get a minor boost in the healing; however, I would prefer his Elemental skill heals than burst ones.

C4: Ancient Art of Perception

Baizhu increases all party members’ Elemental Mastery by 80 units for 15 seconds after using the Elemental burst, Holistic Revivification.

There are plenty of external sources to increase a team’s characters’ Elemental Mastery. Sucrose’s Ascension Passive, Mollis Favonius, can share 20 % of her Elemental mastery with team members.

I occasionally use her to buff my team’s Elemental mastery to trigger powerful reaction damage. Like her, some characters and character-specific constellations can increase a team’s overall Elemental mastery.

You might hear that Burning isn’t that great a reaction, but I cleared a Floor 12 chamber using a Burning team consisting of Nahida, Sucrose, Bennett, and Xiangling. Overall, the constellation is an excellent addition to Baizhu but not game-breaking.

C5: The Hidden Ebb and Flow

A default constellation that increases the level of Baizhu’s Elemental skill, Universal Diagnosis, by three with an upper cap of fifteen.

C6: Elimination of Malicious Qi

The damage dealt by Baizhu’s Elemental Burst, Holistic Revivification’s Spiritveins, increases by 8 % of Baizhu’s maximum health.

Additionally, once a Gossamer Sprite or Gossamer Sprite: Splice hits the enemies, Baizhu gets a 100 % chance to generate a Holistic Revivification’s Seamless shield. The effect can be triggered independently by Gossamer Sprite or Gossamer Sprite: Splice.

Again, not a game-breaking constellation, unlike how some other 5-star characters’ constellations are. With this constellation, you get better damage with Baizhu’s Spiritveins in his Elemental burst, Holistic Revivification.

Additionally, you get better shield regeneration capabilities. However, the shields are still weaker in comparison to some other characters. Nonetheless, the constellation is a modest increase for Baizhu’s personal damage.

Artifacts

baizhu's artifacts
Baizhu with the Deepwood memories artifact set

Deepwood Memories

2-piece set bonus: Baizhu’s Dendro damage bonus increases by 15 %

4-piece set bonus: Baizhu’s Elemental skill or burst decreases enemies’ Dendro resistance by 30 % for 8 seconds. The effect can be triggered even if the character is not on the field.

If you don’t have good off-field Dendro supporting characters like Nahida or Collei, use the Deepwood Memories artifact set on Baizhu. Nahida can mark multiple enemies with her Elemental skill, whereas Baizhu can only mark three enemies at most.

I highly suggest going for his first constellation to get another charge on the Elemental skill because if there are multiple tanky enemies in the abyss, you might not be able to activate the 4-piece effect.

However, that might happen in the future because, so far, there have only been a maximum of three or four boss enemies, like triple Maguu Kenki chamber, four Ruin Drakes, or three Abyss heralds. Use Baizhu’s skill wisely, and you can easily shred enemies’ Dendro resistance.

Noblesse Oblige

2-piece set bonus: Baizhu’s Elemental burst damage increases by 20 %

4-piece set bonus: After Baizhu uses his Elemental burst, the entire party’s attack increases by 20 % for 12 seconds. The effect cannot stack with other characters with the same artifact.

A general set for supporting characters that can buff your team’s overall attack. You benefit from the buff in Quicken teams where Spread and Aggravate reactions are more common.

The set is not a good fit for teams like Bloom, Burgeon, Burning, or Hyperbloom, where Elemental mastery also plays a role.

Maiden Beloved

2-piece set bonus: Baizhu’s healing effectiveness increases by 15 %

4-piece set bonus: After Baizhu uses his Elemental skill or burst, all party members’ incoming healing increases by 20 % for 10 seconds.

It’s been quite a long since I’ve mentioned this artifact set in a character guide. The only scenario where I suggest using this set on Baizhu is when you don’t have any decent healers in your team and are against fierce enemies like Riftwolves, who can apply corrosion to deplete your characters’ health over time.

The set boosts your character’s healing potential and helps them heal your team more effectively.

Ocean-Hued Clam

2-piece set bonus: Baizhu’s healing bonus increases by 15 %

4-piece set bonus: A Sea-Dyed foam will appear for 3 seconds as Baizhu heals a character in the party. The foam will accumulate health points replenished from healing and deal damage according to 90 % accumulated healing.

The damage doesn’t depend on character levels, Elemental mastery, or reaction damage bonuses of the character. You can summon a Sea-Dyed Foam every 3.5 seconds with a maximum accumulation of 30,000 HP.

As for the damaging effect, it can be triggered even if Baizhu is off the field and only one Sea-Dyed foam is active at any given time.

Note that this set’s damage is Physical damage, not Elemental damage. The more you heal, the more damage you deal; It did rhyme. The set complements Baizhu’s personal damage, which is pretty much negligible on higher floors of the Spiral Abyss.

However, suppose you already have a character with the Deepwood memories artifact set. Equipping this set will contribute to your overall team’s damage output, and you can invest in Baizhu’s personal damage.

Artifact Attributes

You have to focus on getting Baizhu’s maximum health to 50,000 HP as it’s where his Ascension passive, All Things Are of the Earth, hits the cap. You can go with a complete HP build on Sands, Circlet, and Goblet on him to achieve the same.

However, if you have already satisfied the requirement, I recommend switching the Sands to an Energy recharge one to complement his 80 burst cost.

Weapons

baizhu's weapons
Baizhu with the Prototype amber

Baizhu’s weapons focus on Energy recharge, HP, and team-wide buffs. Being a supporting character, you don’t need to equip him with Catalysts with offensive stats like CRIT rate, ATK %, or CRIT damage at all.

I’m using Prototype Amber on him, and the weapon works flawlessly on him. I’ve ditched 5-star Catalyst, Everlasting Moonglow because of how well the 4-star Prototype Amber is for my team.

I suggest doing the same and equipping him with weapons that can provide team-wide bonuses. Here are the top picks for weapons for Baizhu:

  • Jadefall’s Splendor – Baizhu’s Signature weapon
  • Favonius Codex
  • Everlasting Moonglow
  • Prototype Amber
  • Hakushin Ring
  • Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers
  • Fruit of Fulfillment

You can use the Favonius Codex, the Hakushin Ring, or the Fruit of Fulfillment to complement Baizhu’s high burst cost. You cannot survive solely based on Baizhu’s Elemental skill, and that’s why it’s better to have sufficient Energy recharge to replenish his Elemental burst.

If you already have characters that can funnel energy particles to Baizhu, then using an HP stat weapon is a must. Once you reach 50,000 HP on Baizhu, you can benefit from his Ascension passive; All Things Are of the Earth’s damage buffs.

Team Compositions

Bloom: Baizhu Hydro Flex Flex

baizhu's team compositions
A sample Bloom team

It’s not possible to have a fantastic Bloom team without Nilou. She’s a master of Bloom teams. With her Tranquility aura, she can burst Dendro Bloom cores and morph them into Bountiful Bloom cores. I highly suggest pairing Nilou and Baizhu together in a team with only Dendro and Hydro characters.

The Bloom cores’ self-damage can be fatal to your characters, so it’s better to have a healer on your team. Dendro characters like Nahida, Alhaitham, Kaveh, Yaoyao, Collei, and Dendro Traveler can help with the on-field Dendro application.

Kaveh is an incredible on-field driver whose Elemental skill helps you to burst Dendro Bloom cores immediately. As for Hydro characters, Xingqiu, Yelan, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Kamisato Ayato are great picks.

It’s better to run a Nilou-Bloom team to benefit from her ascension passives. However, even without her in your team, you can use characters like Kaveh, Nahida, and Dendro Traveler, whose skills complement the Bloom reaction.

The Dendro Traveler’s Lea-Lotus Transfiguration complements the Bloom reaction and helps you to trigger them in a massive area.

Quicken ( Spread and Aggravate ): Baizhu Electro Flex Flex

baizhu electro flex flex
A sample Spread team

Baizhu’s personal damage in this team composition isn’t your concern because we want to maximize the Aggravate and Spread damage bonus from his Ascension passive, All Things Are of the Earth.

You can get up to a 40 % damage bonus after reaching 50,000 HP on him, which makes him a solid Dendro supporting character. I would suggest going with two Dendro characters to complement Baizhu’s Energy recharge requirements.

Characters like Alhaitham and Tighnari can be solid Dendro damage dealers in Spread teams, whereas Nahida can provide immense off-field Dendro application with her Elemental skill. Nahida is a game-changing Dendro character.

sample aggravate team
A sample Aggravate team

As for Electro DPS characters for Aggravate teams, Keqing, Raiden Shogun, and Yae Miko are awesome characters. As for off-field Electro characters, Fischl, Kujou Sara, Beidou, and Raiden Shogun are decent picks.

Fischl is really great in single-target damage and helps to generate a lot of energy particles for her team members with Oz’s help.

It’s also good for you to have an Anemo character like Sucrose, Venti, Kaedehara Kazuha, or Jean to shred enemies’ Electro resistance with the Viridescent Venerer artifact set.

Hyperbloom: Baizhu Hydro Electro Flex

baizhu hydro electro flex
A sample Hyperbloom team

Baizhu’s solo Dendro application isn’t enough to trigger Bloom reactions. It’s better to have other Dendro characters like Nahida, Alhaitham, Collei, or Dendro Traveler to complement the Dendro application.

You can use Xingqiu, Yelan, Sangonomiya Kokomi, or Kamisato Ayato for the Hydro application. Dendro and Hydro characters will help create Bloom cores on the field, where you can trigger Hyperbloom reactions with an Electro character.

Raiden Shogun, Fischl, Cyno, and Kuki Shinobu are awesome picks for the Electro characters. Remember that Fischl doesn’t consistently trigger Hyperbloom reactions because Oz has a bird-brain AI.

Burgeon: Baizhu Hydro Pyro Flex

baizhu burgeon team
A sample Burgeon team

Having another Dendro character on the team is better to maximize the Dendro application on the field. Hydro characters like Xingqiu, Yelan, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Kamisato Ayato can be picked to provide off-field Hydro application.

As for Pyro characters to burst the Dendro cores, you can go with Xiangling or Thoma. The best thing about Thoma is his shield and off-field Pyro application that can improve your characters’ survivability.

You can equip the Favonius lance on him to balance his energy recharge requirements and get his burst back after the cooldown.

Genshin Impact Baizhu Guide: FAQs

Question: Do You Think Baizhu will be Relevant in Future Game Updates?

Answer: Definitely, yes! Baizhu has a versatile kit. Though his shields might not be the main selling point, his ability to equip the Deepwood Memories artifact set and Ascension passive, All Things Are of the Earth, is important for Dendro-related reactions.

Hyperbloom, Bloom, Burning, Quicken, or Burgeon, you name it, Baizhu’s kit can buff that reaction’s damage.

Question: Should I Use Yaoyao or Baizhu as a Healer?

Answer: Baizhu is better in terms of gameplay. Yaoyao has a small child model; sometimes, it can be tricky to dodge enemy attacks. Also, to utilize her healing, you have to be on the field, which can result in a DPS loss.

With Baizhu, you can pop up his skills and immediately switch to your main damage dealer. Baizhu’s shields might not have a high damage absorption, but they provide resistance to interruption that can help you avoid getting staggered by enemies.

Question: What Constellations should I Get on Baizhu?

Answer: I have a C1 Baizhu, and you should target up to two constellations on him. An extra charge on his Elemental skill, Universal Diagnosis, can alleviate strict energy recharge requirements and generate more energy particles.

You can also use his skill on multiple enemies to trigger the effect of the Deepwood memories artifact set to reduce their Dendro resistance.

Obsession or Passion? What Drives Him?

There’s no way I believe in Baizhu’s holier-than-thou persona. There must be something he wants to achieve. Why does he have ingredients and books related to creating the Elixir of immortality? Liyue’s people say his medicines are always bitter; that’s also suspicious.

I’ve had plenty of medicines in my life. Some of them were sweet. How could Liyue’s best doctor not make yummy cough syrups? Why would he shelter a lost zombie who died hundreds of years ago? I have some reasonable questions. Whatever secrets he may be hiding will come to light one day.

Maybe I could be wrong. Maybe Baizhu is creating medicine to cure all diseases and has no evil intentions at all. I just can’t trust him blindly.

Baizhu, I will observe your movements because you are definitely hiding something. Maybe it’s about a contract with Changsheng. Only time will reveal the answers.

Even in general, most of the Dendro characters have good synergy with Baizhu. You can use Nahida to apply off-field Dendro and Kaveh to burst Dendro cores in the area.

With such a versatile role in the team, Baizhu can help you tank the incoming damage and enable your characters to perform their rotations.

There are plenty of teams where you can use 4-star characters with him and easily complete the Spiral Abyss. For now, the time’s running up, and I have to take leave. Until we meet again, fellow travelers.
