Genshin Impact is an open-world RPG game that features an abundance of in-game weapons for players to equip. Throughout your journey in Teyvat, you’ll obtain different weapons with their unique abilities. Each weapon is suitable for a particular character and can provide situational benefits according to your team composition.
I’ve been playing Genshin since day one, and sometimes, even I get a surprise to see a variety of weapons this game offers. Some weapons suit certain characters and provide them with a damage boost. At the same time, others specialize in providing a buff to party members. Moreover, Genshin Impact heavily focuses on farming different in-game materials, and even weapons need materials from the overworld for their ascension.
In this Sacrificial Sword Genshin Impact guide, I’ll be going over one in-game sword weapon, “Sacrificial Sword,” and discussing its details.
Before that, let’s go over a summary of what you can expect from this guide:
- Sacrificial Sword Details
- Ascension Material
- Characters related
- Concluding the guide with FAQs
Sacrificial Sword
The Sacrificial Sword is described as a ceremonial sword that has become petrified over time. From its looks, the trinkets are still visible on it, and it grants the wielder the power to withstand the winds of time.
Genshin Impact has characters, and along with their regular attacks, every character has a skill and burst. This weapon focuses on resetting the cooldown of your talent, which depends on its passive.
Moreover, Energy recharge as its secondary stat, Sacrificial sword, is helpful if you’re looking to get your burst back more often. Energy recharge is one of the important secondary stat when it comes to clearing end-game content like Spiral abyss because it allows you to use your character’s burst and deal more damage.
Let’s go over weapon details first to get an overview of this weapon.
Weapon Details:
- Rarity: 4-star
- Base Attack: 41
- Secondary Stat: Energy Recharge
- Secondary Stat Value: 13.3%
- Passive: Composed
After damaging an opponent with an elemental skill, the elemental skill has a 40% chance to end its cooldown. This effect can occur once every 30s
Weapon Stat Progression
Weapon Level | Base Attack | Energy Recharge(%) |
1 | 41 | 13.3 |
20 | 99 | 23.6 |
40 | 184 | 34.3 |
60 | 293 | 45.1 |
80 | 401 | 55.9 |
90 | 454 | 61.3 |
I’ve listed vital levels of weapons that you’ll be going through when ascending them to level 90. As you can see, the secondary stat gets a good boost, and you’ll be able to get more energy recharge overall. Weapons help you manage different stats in your artifacts and opt for a playstyle that suits your team. So, keep in mind to have a team composition that can help your characters synergize with each other and keep your energy requirements in check.
Refinement Progression
Refinement Rank | Chance to reset CD(%) | Time(seconds) |
1 | 40 | 30 |
2 | 50 | 26 |
3 | 60 | 22 |
4 | 70 | 19 |
5 | 80 | 16 |
As you’ll ascend your weapons or refine them, notice that their appearance will also change. Your weapon will look more vibrant and have a brighter color scheme than what it was at level 1.
Now, refinements are good if you’re looking to boost your weapon’s passive effects. Here, having more refinement on the Sacrificial sword will increase your chance to reset elemental skill cooldown, and you can use it more often.
Although, not all weapon’s passive are better and need to be on higher refinements. Some weapons can remain without refinements, and they will still perform better. You can learn about different weapons in weapons guides and see which characters are suitable for them.
Ascension Material
Dandelion Gladiator | Chaos | Scroll |
Fetters = 3 | Device = 15 | Divining = 10 |
Chains = 9 | Circuit = 18 | Sealed = 15 |
Shackles = 9 | Core = 27 | Forbidden = 18 |
Dream = 4 | Total Mora Required = 150000 |
Genshin Impact heavily focuses on farming different in-game materials. You should know that you’ll need to use some material that you may collect from the overworld, whether it’s ascending characters or weapons. Genshin Impact makes farming in-game materials a critical task, and you should collect whichever berry, mint, or even hilicurl mask you can get your hands on.
With the above materials for different ascension levels, you need around 600 mystic enhancement ores and 600k mora. I recommend you do your daily commission and forge weapons’ ores daily on a blacksmith shop. It’s better to have extra materials than to run short on them. Genshin Impact focuses on in-game farming materials you can use in weapon’s ascension, and ores are an essential source of weapon’s EXP.
Make sure to do your daily commissions expeditions and sometimes even farm some ores once in a while to have your inventory ready for upcoming weapon upgrades.
Characters
Let’s go over which characters can use this weapon, and I’ll be providing my remarks over which character has better synergy with Sacrificial Sword. Do keep in mind that these are general remarks from my end, and you should opt for a playstyle that suits your team composition and game sense.
I’ll also provide some 4-star weapon alternatives that you can use on these characters and get better overall results. To get in-depth details about characters, you should refer to character guides and further optimize your team composition.
As of writing this guide, Genshin Impact 2.4 has the following characters which can use Sacrificial Sword:
Kamisato Ayaka:
She is a 5-star cryo character who specializes in dealing an insane amount of cryo damage to her enemies. She can perform very well in cryo damage because of her regular attack infusion with cryo after her dash.
The sacrificial sword may not be a better option for her because of lacking CRIT stats or ATK% stats. It’s better to equip your primary damage dealers with offensive stats so they can clear enemies faster.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Amenoma Kageuchi, The Flute, Blackcliff longsword
Kaedehara Kazuha:
He is a 5-star anemo character specializing in grouping enemies and providing team buff. His abilities can prove insanely good if you’re looking to use him as support. The sacrificial sword is a good weapon and gives him decent energy recharge to get his burst back more often.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Iron Sting, Favonius Sword
Xingqiu:
He is a 4-star hydro character who specializes in providing off-field damage and can give damage reduction to your active character. The sacrificial sword is one of the most recommended weapons on him, which helps him with high energy burst costs.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Favonius Sword, Amenoma Kageuchi, Festering Desire
Bennett:
He is a 4-star pyro character who can provide an attack boost to the active character who’s standing in his burst area. He’s one of the most recommended support characters in Genshin Impact and helps clear end-game content like Spiral abyss.
The sacrificial sword may work on him to generate more energy particles, but I’ll recommend you to equip him with the sword which has a higher base attack in your inventory.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: The Alley Flash, Festering Desire, Favonius Sword
Jean:
She is a 5-star anemo character whose abilities scale off her ATK and can heal team members. She is an excellent healer when it comes to healing your whole party in an instant in her burst.
She can use the sacrificial sword to generate more particles and have a chance to use her skill twice to throw enemies away.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Festering Desire, Amenoma Kageuchi, Favonius Sword
Qiqi:
She is a 5-star cryo character specializing in healing team members. Her abilities scale off attacks, and it’s better to use a weapon with ATK% as a secondary stat value if you’re looking to heal your team members faster. However, if you’re looking to have better passive heals and use her burst more often, then a sacrificial sword can have used in that case.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: The Flute, Prototype rancor, Amenoma Kageuchi
Albedo:
Is a 5-star geo character whose abilities scale off his DEF. He’s better in a sub-DPS role and can provide good off-field damage to enemies. I will recommend you equip sword with CRIT rate or DEF as a secondary stat to better benefit from his abilities.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Cinnabar Spindle, Harbinger of dawn(3-star)
Kaeya:
Kaeya Alberich is a 4-star cryo character specializing in dealing off-field damage or can be used to provide energy particles to a character because of his low elemental skill cooldown. He can use the sacrificial sword on him, but his ascension stat is already energy recharge which will help him get his burst back faster.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Lion’s roar, Blackcliff longsword, Favonius Sword
Keqing:
She is a 5-star electro character specializing in a primary damage dealer. I won’t recommend you to have weapons on her that feature energy recharge as their secondary stat. She’s better with weapons having offensive stats like CRIT rate, CRIT damage, or ATK%.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Lion’s roar, Black Sword, Amenoma Kageuchi
Traveler:
Traveler has three elements, and it all comes down to your choice, however you want to play and use your abilities. Overall, I will say they’re better suited for battery or support roles in your team, and you should focus on some other characters to fit the position of your team’s primary damage dealer.
You can use the sacrificial sword, but I’ll recommend you use different weapons on all three elements of Traveler.
- 4-star weapon alternatives: Favonius Sword, Festering Desire
Final Thoughts on Characters
You can also play the above characters as physical damage dealers, and I’m covering elemental playstyles here only to avoid the reader getting in confusion. You should head over to specific character guides to prevent weapon comparison confusion and see which team compositions suit your playstyle. These are just remarks from my end, and I’ll recommend you to experiment with different characters.
Genshin Impact is all about experimenting with different weapons and characters to find the suitable choice for your playstyle. You can make team compositions that will help you in the long run and eventually clear end-game content like Spiral abyss. Trust me, and even the spiral abyss will be easy with good game knowledge.
FAQ
Before concluding, I’ll like to go over some questions which you may have after reading this guide:
Question: Should I refine Sacrificial Sword?
Answer:Â It depends on having characters like Xingqiu and Kazuha and two copies of the sacrificial sword. Then it’s better to equip it separately on both of these characters first, and after getting an extra sacrificial sword copy, you can refine the weapon. The main takeaway is that you should equip your available character with this weapon who can synergize well with the Sacrificial sword and then refine it on them.
Question:Â Are 4-star weapons good enough to clear end-game content like Spiral Abyss?
Answer:Â Yes, they are enough to clear end-game content. This general misconception is that you need 5-star characters and weapons to clear the spiral abyss. However, with proper investment in 4-star characters and weapons, even they can clear the spiral abyss. I’m using a sacrificial sword on my Xinqiu, and it’s just refinement level 1. Still, I’m able to clear all floors quickly.
However, I agree that 5-star characters and weapons provide a massive damage boost to the team and can clear floors much faster. If we are talking about clearing spiral abyss floors, that’s doable with 4-star weapons. For a 36-star clear of the spiral abyss, you can either optimize your teams and refine weapons or equip them with better weapons in the longer run.
Question:Â Should I wish on the weapon’s banner as a free-to-play player?
Answer: I won’t recommend you to wish on the weapon’s banner, which is “Epitome Invocation.” Simply because, as a free-to-play player, you should prioritize getting different characters first and having versatile team composition options available. That way, you’ll have access to different playstyles and can center your team around a single damage dealer.
Even if you get a weapon on a character’s banner, that’s also good considering 4-star weapons with multiple refinements perform much better and have better passivity that way.
Question:Â What about 3-star weapons I get in the overworld? Are they worth keeping?
Answer: Yes! 3-star weapons like Thrilling tales of dragon slayer, Harbinger of dawn, and white tassel, to name a few, can prove to be good weapons in specific team compositions. Weapons get better with refinements, and 3-star weapons you see in overworld can help you in early to mid-game.
Nonetheless, even if you reach a higher adventure rank, I won’t recommend you feed those 3-star weapons because some of them have unique passives and team bonuses that even 5-star weapons don’t offer. It’s better to have at least two copies of 3-star weapons refined to the maximum level to equip them for future characters. You never know which character comes out, and they might have used a 3-star weapon that is in the dust right now.
Conclusion
The sacrificial sword is an excellent weapon if you’re looking to reset your elemental skill’s cooldown. Although, just like most of the things in-game, this weapon also has RNG essence to it. There’s a chance that you will reset the cooldown of your elemental skill, which improves with multiple refinements.
So, getting refinements on this weapon becomes super essential if you’re using this weapon on characters like Xingqiu, who can act as a solid off-field damage dealer and provide good team support.
As you progress through the game, you’ll obtain different weapons, and other team comp options will be available to you. After you can adopt a playstyle that suits your game sense, I’ll recommend you to experiment with different weapons to get a better hold on your character rotations.
