Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons

The Craftable Weapons in Genshin Impact are unique, but the mechanic behind which they are made is a recurring theme amongst almost every open-world RPG. These weapons are necessary during the early stages of the game because players will not be able to access many four-star weapons. The secondary stats and weapon passives are primarily catered toward Sub DPS characters and Support characters; therefore, players are able to use these weapons toward the latter stage of the game as well.

Unfortunately, unlike the weapons in Mondstadt and Liyue, the guns in Inazuma and Sumeru are locked behind quests, and as a result, players will have to work pretty hard to unlock them. The Prototype weapon series is the best so far, the Amethyst series comes in second, the Infusion series comes in second, and the Aranara series comes in last, but this is mainly because the Aranara series is relatively new to the game. Welcome to a guide to the Genshin Impact best craftable weapons.

How to Forge the Craftable Weapons?

The forging process is relatively easy, but the required items have varying degrees of difficulty. However, this does not mean that players will be stuck in one place and unable to progress further in the game. Instead, they could rely on traveling to other players’ worlds and gathering resources.

Players can use characters such as Ningguang to locate nearby ores or characters with a regional specialty exploration talent to help find items that are exclusive to the area. The weapon billets can be obtained by completing the respective trees or statues of the seven in each region or through special quests.

forging the craftable weapon

Below, I will be listing the materials needed to forge the Craftable weapon.

  1. Ore – White Iron Chunk
  2. Special Forging Ore – Crystal Chunk (Mondstadt, Liyue, Sumeru), Amethyst Lump (Starsilver), Starsilver/ Vitalized Dragontooth (for the Dragonspine Spear)
  3. Weapon Billets – Northlander (Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Dragonspine), Midlander (Sumeru)

Prerequisites

Mondstadt and Liyue have no prerequisite challenges or anything required to unlock the weapon blueprints; therefore, as long as players collect the necessary items, they can forge the weapons.

In order to obtain the blueprints for the weapons from Sumeru, players need to complete all of the quests in the Aranyaka quest line and then purchase the blueprints from Aravinay in Vanarana. However, all Craftable weapons from Sumeru require Midlander weapon billets, and this would mean that players have to level up the Tree of Dreams and complete it to collect all of the weapon billets.

However, Inazuma and Dragonspine have special quests or activities required to unlock the weapons/ weapon blueprints, and they are as shown below;

Weapon Inazuma Dragonspine
Sword Quest required to unlock the weapon blueprint – The Farmer’s Treasure
Claymore Quest required to unlock the weapon blueprint – The “Tartara Tales” world quest must be completed before players enter “The Arsenal” in Tartarasuna The activity required to unlock the weapon blueprint – Players need to complete the “Ancient Carvings” puzzle
Polearm Quest required to unlock the weapon blueprint – Orobashi’s Legacy Quest required to unlock the weapon blueprint – Festering Fang
Bow The activity required to unlock the weapon blueprint – Players must give three “Mysterious Conches” for a week straight to an NPC called “Takashi,” he is found in a Chonch hut a few meters away from the Statue of the Seven in Tartarasuna
Catalyst Quest required to unlock the weapon blueprint – Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual Obtained as a reward – After reaching level 10 of the Frostbearing Tree

Top Ten Craftable Weapons for General Use

15. Moonpiercer

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons moonpiercer

The Moonpiercer is a relatively new weapon, and therefore the number of characters that can use this weapon at its highest capacity is quite low because the weapon’s passive is locked behind, triggering Dendro reactions.

However, the Elemental Mastery secondary stat compliments a large number of Polearm users, and this is primarily because some of the best reaction enablers are Polearm users. Unfortunately, the characters equipped with this weapon will be tied down to Dendro reaction related team comps, which may ultimately hinder other reaction team comps.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Sub DPS
  2. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Hu Tao (*ONLY* if players have no other option, this is only for the Elemental Mastery secondary stat)
  2. Candace (Bloom or Hyperbloom team comps)
  3. Xiangling (Burning or Burgeon team comps)
  4. Yaoyao (Dendro applier in the team comps)

14. Fruit of Fulfillment

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons fruit of fulfillment

This weapon is another weapon that may see a rise in usage as newer characters are introduced. Since there are no reactions or element specific mechanics, this weapon is one of the best options for reaction based characters. The Energy Recharge substat is perfect for most Sub DPS or Support characters, and this is because most of the rely on Elemental Burst damage or using the Elemental Burst to provide buffs for the team.

However, I believe that Crafting this weapon would be a challenge for most players because it requires completing high levels of the Tree of Dreams in order to access the Midlander Catalyst billet. That being said, I believe that this weapon will be a long-term investment for any player because Catalyst Support characters are essential in almost every team comp.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Sub DPS
  2. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Yae Miko (Aggravate, Quicken, or Hyperbloom team comps)
  2. Nahida (Dendro applier in the team comps)
  3. Lisa (Aggravate, Quicken, or Hyperbloom team comps)
  4. Yanfei (Burning or Burgeon team comps)

13. Prototype Rancour

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons prototype rancour

The Prototype Rancour is one of the few free weapons that are locked behind quests rather than events, and it is also one of the first four-star weapons that most players will obtain. However, this does not mean that it is the best weapon or that every character can use it, but players can definitely use this weapon on any Main DPS character during the early stages of the game and manage until a better one comes along.

The Prototype Rancour is a unique weapon because it buffs two stats (ATK and DEF) rather than one, making it a very flexible option for the Anemo Traveler and Geo Traveler as well, and this is probably why players receive the weapon for free.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Jean (Physical DPS build)
  2. Keqing (Physical DPS build)
  3. Bennett (due to its high vase ATK)
  4. Kaeya (Physical DPS build)

12. Crescent Pike

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons crescent pike

Crescent Pike is an all rounder weapon that should be used by a character that will spend the majority of the time on-field. Although only a few characters can fully utilize the secondary stat and the weapon’s passive successfully, most characters can benefit from either bonus. This is not an essential weapon during the early stages of the game, and this is because players would be better off using Xiangling in a Main DPS or Sub DPS for elemental reactions.

In my experience, characters such as Hu Tao can use this weapon as a placeholder, but the Physical DPS aspect is not compatible in the long run. The only character that can utilize this weapon properly would be Rosaria unless a pure Physical DPS Polearm user comes along in the upcoming versions.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Cyno (mainly for the weapon’s passive, Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Zhongli (Main DPS build)
  3. Rosaria (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Xiangling (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)

11. Whiteblind

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons whiteblind

The reason that the Whiteblind does not make it into the top ten is that the number of characters that can use this weapon is very limited, and only Noelle can truly draw the maximum out of this weapon because it is perfect for her kit. The passive of this weapon is great, too, and it behaves in a similar fashion to the Iron Sting; however, additionally, the DEF stat gets a buff as well.

Due to the very low number of potential users, this weapon might be a waste if players are planning to use Noelle temporarily or not trying to pull for Arataki Itto. However, the plus point is that players can forge a weapon for a character that they are guaranteed to receive through the Beginners’ banner, Noelle.

In my opinion, this weapon would be great for the early stages of the game because it would allow players to gain the maximum benefit from their Noelle, and eventually, players can try getting Arataki Itto as well because he is one of the best Main DPS characters in the game. It could be a win-win situation if players do some long-term planning in regard to the team comps/ characters they require.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS (*ONLY* for a character scaling off DEF)
  2. Sub DPS (*ONLY* for a character scaling off DEF)

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Arataki Itto (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Noelle (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)

10. Prototype Crescent

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons prototype crescent

This weapon is almost perfect for a wide range of characters due to the benefits provided by the weapon; however, there are better four-star options for certain characters. The movement speed buff given by this weapon will help players launch a wide range of Normal Attacks swiftly, and this can result in rapid firing, which is ideal for characters such as Yoimiya.

Additionally, when an opponent’s weak spot is attacked, the weapon’s passive provides the character with a really high buff that must be used quickly before the effect wears off because the effect cannot be stacked. The second buff is one of the best buffs for Ganyu, and it can also be used to make Tartaglia more efficient as well when his Ranged Stance is active.

This is one of the few weapons that I would recommend players invest in when looking at the long-term uses of the weapon and its range of compatibility.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Ganyu (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Tartaglia (Main DPS build)
  3. Yoimiya (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Fischl (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  5. Kujou Sara (Sub DPS build)

9. Frostbearer

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons frostbearer

The Frostbearer is another weapon that most veteran players should have unlocked by now, especially because completing the Frostbearing Tree in Dragonspine is one of the first long-term objectives that we receive. The weapon on its own is a viable option for Main DPS or Sub DPS characters, and this is because the weapon allows the on-field character to deal massive volumes of damage via the weapon’s passive.

The reason that this weapon ranks above the other weapons from the Dragonspine series is mainly due to the substat being ATK instead of Physical damage; this gives the weapon a wider range of users. This weapon will be viable for any upcoming Cryo Catalyst users because of the secondary buff provided when dealing Cryo damage; this may take a while because, as of version 3.5, we still have no news of a Cryo Catalyst user.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Klee (Main DPS build)
  2. Mona (Sub DPS build)
  3. Heizou (Main DPS build)
  4. Yanfei (Sub DPS build)

8. Prototype Starglitter

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons prototype starglitter

This weapon is another weapon that players will be using during the late stages of the game as well, and this is due to the flexibility of its use. This weapon is ideal for Sub DPS or Support units unless a character’s kit scales off of their Energy Recharge. Any character that is lacking in Energy Recharge can use this weapon to satisfy their deficiency, but the weapon’s passive may not be too compatible with most characters.

This weapon is the perfect second option for Raiden Shogun, after The Catch, of course; not only will the Prototype Starglitter enhance her Energy Recharge, but it will provide a strong buff that will help push her Normal Attack and Charged Attack damage a little higher. However, the only reason this weapon is better than the Favonius Lance (obtained through wishing) and The Catch (obtained in exchange for fish) is that it is craftable; in every other aspect, the other two Polearms outdo the Prototype Starglitter.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Sub DPS
  2. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Raiden Shogun (Main DPS build as an exception/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Zhongli (Sub DPS build/ Support build)
  3. Yun Jin (Support build)
  4. Xiangling (Sub DPS build/ Support build)

7. Hakushin Ring

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons hakushin ring

This weapon is the best option for Electro reaction team comps; this is primarily because the weapon’s passive is triggered after an Electro reaction is done. Players can equip this weapon on their Sub DPS or Support characters, and this will allow them to function apart from the Main DPS character to add to the team’s overall damage output.

Although this weapon is reaction/ team specific, the overall use is pretty great because the character holding the weapon does not have to be an Electro character; they could be the reaction enabler. One of the very few disadvantages of this weapon is that it is locked behind a quest, and it is not readily available for forging, unlike the weapons from Mondstadt and Liyue. However, this weapon is a must have for Electro team comps because it will enhance the overall damage dealt by the team.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Sub DPS
  2. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Mona (Electro-Charged team comps)
  2. Nahida (Aggravate, Quicken, and Hyperbloom team comps)
  3. Yae Miko (Main DPS as an exception/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Lisa (Sub DPS build/ Support build)

6. Kitain Cross Spear

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons kitain cross spear

This weapon has an energy drain mechanic that slowly regenerates energy at a more rapid rate while increasing the Elemental Skill damage of the character. This weapon is quite underrated, although so many Polearm users can use this weapon to its highest capacity. The Elemental Mastery secondary stat will allow players to carry out very strong elemental reactions; however, most characters using this weapon will fall into a Sub DPS role or a Support role.

However, characters such as Hu Tao can still be a viable option to perform at a Main DPS level with this weapon; the only reason for this exception is that Hu Tao can benefit from the additional Elemental Mastery and because the majority of her damage comes from her Elemental Skill which would be buffed due to the weapon’s passive.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Sub DPS
  2. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Hutao (Main DPS build as an exception/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Candace (Sub DPS build)
  3. Thoma (Support build)
  4. Xiangling (Sub DPS/ Support build)

5. Hamaymui

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons hamayumi

Hamayumi is a very under-appreciated weapon that barely gets any recognition; in the hands of Main DPS bow users, this weapon will take their Normal Attack and Charged attack damage to the next level. The weapon’s passive acts as a damage multiplier when a character has a fully charged bar of energy; this works exceptionally for Main DPS characters or Sub DPS characters that are not reliant on the Elemental Burst to carry out large portions of their damage.

This weapon compliments Yoimiya’s kit and can be a deadly combination when used together with a full set of Shimenawa’s Reminiscence. However, for characters that rely on the Elemental Burst for damage, players can either use off-field Support characters to help carry out elemental reactions or depend on the Elemental Skill.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Tartaglia (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Yoimiya (Main DPS build)
  3. Amber (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Fischl (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)

4. Mappa Mare

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons mappa mare

Mappa Mare is the perfect weapon for reaction based Catalyst characters, and this is due to the high level of Elemental Mastery provided by the second stat of the weapon along with the weapon’s passive that is heavily in favor of elemental damage. Most late game players still use this weapon in their team comps, and it is often held by either a Sub DPS character or an on-field Support character.

However, this weapon is a viable option for Main DPS characters as well because most of the Catalyst users rely on reactions to deal high volumes of damage rather than pure elemental energy; therefore, characters such as Mona can use this weapon in a very flexible way to suit almost any team comp.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS
  3. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Mona (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build/ Support build)
  2. Nahida (Sub DPS build/ Support build)
  3. Scaramouche (primarily as a Main DPS/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Sucrose (Sub DPS build/ Support build)

3. Prototype Amber

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons prototype amber

Prototype Amber is a rare weapon that will help players utilize the full potential of their Catalyst healing units. The weapon’s passive does not upgrade or enhance any character’s healing capabilities; instead, it helps with Energy Recharge and provides additional healing to the teammates; this means that the character holding this weapon does not have to be a healer, but if the character can heal, the additional healing provided by the weapon’s passive will go a long way.

This weapon is well-rounded and can be used on any Catalyst character that needs high levels of HP to get the best out of their kit, such as Kokomi, Barbara, and Yanfei.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Sub DPS
  2. Support

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Kokomi (Support/ Healer build)
  2. Mona (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  3. Barbara (Support/ Healer build)
  4. Yanfei (Support build, but mainly for her shield that is unlocked at C4)

2. Prototype Archaic

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons prototype archaic

Prototype Archiac is excellent for characters that are on-field for the majority of a battle, and this is because the weapon’s passive is catered towards Main DPS characters and Sub DPS characters. If players can use a crowd control character such as Sucrose or Kazuha, they can easily utilize the small AoE damage dealt via the weapon’s passive and inflict extra damage to the enemies present.

When deciding on this weapon, players need to factor in the character’s usage of Normal Attacks and Charged Attacks because the weapon’s passive is triggered via these attacks. The secondary stat of this weapon is great at enhancing the damage dealt by the Main DPS or Sub DPS character holding this weapon, and for these reasons, this weapon becomes one that will be used even during the late stages of the game.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Diluc (Main DPS build)
  2. Eula (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  3. Beidou (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Chongyun (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)

1. Amenoma Kageuchi

Genshin Impact Best Craftable Weapons amenoma kageuchi

Amenoma Kageuchi is a versatile weapon that can be given to any character role or a character that requires extra energy particle generation. When looking at the weapon, players have to understand that the complete buff from the weapon’s passive can be obtained through multiple uses of the Elemental Skill; therefore, players must equip this weapon on a character with a low Elemental Skill cooldown.

The secondary stat is catered towards Main DPS or Sub DPS characters, but the weapon’s passive is catered toward e

very role in the game; therefore, even characters in a Support role can benefit from this weapon. The overall benefits of this weapon are great for a four-star, and the versatility gives it an edge over most of the other swords available in Genshin Impact.

I would recommend forging multiple copies of this weapon, and if possible, players should refine this weapon as well because it is one of the best four-star options for players.

Suitable Role(s):

  1. Main DPS
  2. Sub DPS

Characters that can use this weapon:

  1. Kamisato Ayaka (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  2. Kamisato Ayato (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  3. Keqing (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)
  4. Kaeya (Main DPS build/ Sub DPS build)

FAQ

Question: How to obtain the weapon blueprints in Inazuma and Sumeru?

Answer: Players need to complete a few prerequisite quests in order to unlock the weapon blueprints in Inazuma and Sumeru; these quests may take a long time to complete; therefore, players must prioritize the weapons that they need and complete the relevant quests first.

Another handicap in the Sumeru weapon forging mechanic would be the second item needed to craft the weapons, the Midlander weapon Billets. The only way to obtain these would be by leveling up the Tree of Dreams or by converting specific Northlander weapon billets to Midlander weapon billets.

Question: Which Craftable Weapon series is best?

Answer: In my opinion, the Prototype series is the best, and many players continue to use weapons from this series towards the latter stages of the game as well.

Question: Are Craftable Weapons difficult to make?

Answer: This depends on the weapon itself, but in general, I would say that it is pretty easy to make Craftable Weapons: as long as players collect the necessary ores, weapon billets, and weapon blueprints.

Conclusion

genshin impact weapon

The Craftable Weapons are a great addition to the game because although they will consume a lot of resources to forge, they will help save a more important resource, Primogems. However, the Craftable Weapons will not help satisfy the needs of every team comp or individual character; therefore, players should definitely invest in Gacha weapons and do pulls on the banners.

That being said, at the beginning of the game, players will benefit greatly from using Craftable Weapons because it will help them save Primogems that can be used to get characters. In my opinion, late-game players should have a general set of Craftable Weapons ready because the need for these weapons may increase with the addition of newer characters.
